San Diego State offers a variety of clubs that students can participate in. In addition, San Diego State offers free writing and math help for students.

How has the Compact Scholars Program helped you throughout your college career?

Throughout my college career, the Compact Scholars Program has offered many activities that I am able to be involved in. Without Compact Scholars Program I wouldn’t know about the activities and the student fairs that are occurring around campus everyday!

Tell us about an experience you have had outside of class. (Job, internship, project, etc.)

One of my favorite volunteer experiences was working at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center this past summer. During my experience, I was able to work with young children and teach them about some of my favorite topics such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics!

What is your favorite class on campus and why?

So far, my favorite class on campus has been Women Studies. This course has widened my perspective on the injustices that women around the world encounter and has brought on a new world view. This class has taught me to view things differently and to carefully analyze a variety of different aspects among women.

Are you involved in any organizations or clubs on campus?

Currently, I am involved in the Weber Honors College. The Weber Honors College is a competitive organization for students to join and requires a 3.2 grade point average. In addition, all Honors students are required to declare an Honors Minor. These Honors classes are great for students because they teach us about leadership skills and how to apply our academics to events that are occurring around the world. In addition, being a part of the Weber Honors College requires students to study abroad which is an exciting way to earn college credits and learn about the different cultures around the world. This year, I also joined M.E.C.H.A. This club allows me to meet people from my culture and become more involved in activities around campus.

What do you plan on doing after graduation?

After graduation, I hope to continue my education by attending graduate school at San Diego State or at a different campus. I hope to pursue my Masters in Environmental Engineering and hope to one-day work for the city of San Diego.

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

College is fun if you prioritize! Your academics should always come first then the fun. Join clubs, hang out with your friends, and meet new people but don’t let it distract you from your school work!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fullwidth=”on” specialty=”off” admin_label=”Section”][et_pb_fullwidth_post_title admin_label=”Fullwidth Post Title” title=”on” meta=”on” author=”on” date=”on” categories=”on” comments=”on” featured_image=”on” featured_placement=”below” parallax_effect=”on” parallax_method=”on” text_orientation=”left” text_color=”dark” text_background=”off” text_bg_color=”rgba(255,255,255,0.9)” module_bg_color=”rgba(255,255,255,0)” title_all_caps=”off” meta_font_size=”14″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” /][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” text_font_size=”14″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”] Name: Denise Garcia High School: Otay Ranch High School Major: Environmental/Civil Engineer Expected Graduation Year: […]

[15

post-226","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-student-spotlight
["GET
