I’m passionate about people, art, film, equality, educating others, intersectional feminism, loving and caring for others/those in need, etc. I could make small and large changes everyday. Taking the time to love on someone by listening to them and asking them how they are doing makes an impact.
If you’re scared, it’s okay. If you’re not, then you’ve got a good grip so keep going. If you have no idea what you want or who you want to be, now is the time to shine. As freshman commuters, there’s going to obstacles like having to wake up early, leave early, and then struggle to find parking. You’re not going to be as familiar with the campus as someone who lives there, but there will always be ways to getting around and connecting people. Be open to these opportunities. Make at least one friend in every class because you’ll never know who you can count on and who you can be of assistance to as well. When your teachers provide you with resources and their time, take them. This is your survival guide, this is where your technical questions are answered, and this is where you get your help. I never used to talk to my teachers in high school, but I’ve grown closer to a few professors and not only does it show that I’m interested and involved, but I also get one-on-one time to really dive into what I don’t understand. You paid for all of these classes so take advantage of what you’ve been given. Above all, be resilient. Learn to accept failures and honest mistakes. Not every class will be your cup of tea, but you’ve have to keep sipping until it’s all over and trust me—it will all fly by. You can do it.
